In relation to ecology there are at least two tendencies on the left. One is the anarchist/mystical wing which often treats the human relationship to earth as a separate category from capitalism.
On the other hand, many Marxists treat global overheating as a side product of capitalism that can only be addressed “after the revolution”. An exception is the work of Marxist John Bellamy Foster and his concept of metabolic rift. In this article he mercilessly spells out the accelerating consequences of overheating geopolitically, geoeconomically and even with AI.
