21st Century Socialism’s Direct Democracy’s First Steps in Venezuela

Yesterday was an important day for 21st century socialism. Usually socialism is presented as having to do with the economy. But 21st century socialism also involves a new politics. Representational democracy, as Marx once said, is the “talk-shop of the bourgeoisie”. Direct democracy is how workers’ councils were organized in Russia and Spain during their revolutions.
