Netflix’s “Social Dilemma” is Neither Social or Political

Jonathan Cook’s article rightly points out that while Netflix’s “Social Dilemma” describes how the control of Google and other media giants have changed our perceptions, it is predictably individualistic in its analysis. For example, it fails to show how Google may share its secrets with the state or with politicians. It reduces the current social rebellion to technological invasions while failing to point out the positive political impact of social media on political organizing and the exposure of state terror at the hands of the police.
