It has happened before. In 1967 the US ship Liberty was attacked by Israel which resulted in 34 servicemen being killed and 174 injured. The full report of the incident is still being suppressed 58 years later.
For those of you who are not familiar with the term, this is known in international politics as a false flag operation. It is a form of psychological warfare in which a country attacks a foreign power and then blames it on other country. Another domestic form of a false flag operation is when the state kills some of its own agents and then blames it on a left-wing group which then can be labeled “terrorist”.
