Workers’ Strikes in China: A Six-Month Analysis

While Chinese unions are having a difficult time getting off the ground because of state repression, that doesn’t mean workers are helpless. This article analyzes the nature of strikes in the first six months of this year, finding that many of the strikes involve less than 100 people and no strike involved over 1,000.  The reasons for this more decentralized approach are offered.
