Two Centuries of Western Russophobia

This is a richly detailed story of two centuries of attacks on Russia by the West. As Jeffery Sachs points out in Consortium News, security concerns are acceptable in every other country with the exception of  Russia.

The history covers the period of the Tzar through the Soviet Union and on to the Putin Era. The fact that the attacks continued whether the regime was absolutist, communist or national capitalist demonstrate that political ideology cannot explain this hostility. However, what Sachs leaves out is the influence of geopolitical analyst Mackinder’s warning that a heartland connection between Germany and Russia would weaken the West.
