As this article states, under normal political etiquette a president would contact the governor of Michigan, express horror at the plot, and promise to bring those arrested to justice. Trump has done none of these things. In fact when armed fascists demonstrated at the Michigan state capitol against Governor Gretchen Whiter chanting “lock her up, he tweeted in obvious support – “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” Members of a right-wing militia who were part of that protest have since been arrested for plotting to kidnap and/or murder the governor. This passive aggressive move signals to other fascists that they can make these attempts in other states. These are all indicators that Trump has no plans to leave the White house should he lose the election.
