After World War II the nation-states of the world swore up and down that there would be no more world wars. 80 years later it has failed to prevent wars or ever come out from under the thumb of the United States.
Since 1945 the number of states has expanded almost four-fold, yet the UN has failed to reorganize itself accordingly. Their division of labor has resulted in a sprawling bureaucracy. The UN Security Council is riddled with contradictions from veto power to permanent membership. This results in a failure to come to binding decisions. Their inability to rotate its headquarters after 80 is one of many examples of how the UN is controlled by the United States.
