Sunset Boulevard and the Alienation of The Golden Age of Hollywood

This is a very well-written article about the reissuing of a movie in which the difficulties of remaining young and employable in the Hollywood transition from silent films to the ‘talkies’ takes place.

It follows the career of a once famous silent movie star, Gloria Swanson, and her inability to cope with the changing times. There is a lot here for those interested in developmental psychology and its typical defense mechanisms against growing old.
