Many people in the West are willing to admit that China has dealt with the coronavirus better than capitalist countries. But this article also develops case studies of Cuba, Vietnam and Venezuela to show that socialist countries in general have done far better with this crisis because:
- They were guided by science;
- The public sector produced essential materials;
- There was public action to improve social life;
- There as been an international outreach response.
In capitalist countries there has been a denial of the virus itself, chaotic production of protective devices, a paralysis of social life, extreme nationalism and blatant racism.
