The timing of the release of this documentary about the radical Industrial Workers of the World couldn’t be better given the strikes happening in Yankeedom today. This review is surprisingly sympathetic for a Trotskyist organization usually hostile to self-organization by workers. Among many other things the “wobblies” wanted to abolish capitalism and replace it with a syndicate of unions. They were open to imigrants, racial minorities and women. This is a great movie to show your young friends thinking they want to organize on the job. We do, however, disagree with the reviewer about why the IWW didn’t last.
