This is a wonderful overview of Michael Parenti’s books and public lectures. After graduating from Yale he could not get a teaching position because of his anticapitalist and pro-communist commitments.
He made his living as a writer and speaker and his book Democracy For the Few was a great alternative text for political science classes for many years, through 9 editions. His book Blackshirts and Reds defended actually existing socialism from both the establishment and the anarchists. A puzzle for us is why he didn’t choose to teach as an adjunct professor.
