On the surface it would seem that Melenchon’s call for a general strike with the trade unions on April 6th is exactly what the 21st century French Revolution needs. But why wait so long? in addition, why is he announcing it to the trade unions and not to the working class people who voted for him? This article lays out his reasoning and that of the trade unions who want to take the steam out of the strike.
