James Burnham: From Trotskyite to the CIA

It might seem hard to believe someone as left-wing as a Trotskyist could wind up working actively for the CIA. While some Trotskyists became unknowing dupes for the CIA-sponsored Congress of Cultural Freedom, Burnham’s case is different. He was in charge of the propaganda machine to promote anti-communism in Mordor as well as offering his home as a refuge for anti-communists from the Soviet Union.
