The heart of NATO is the collective defense of Europe and Mordor against communism in Europe and Russia overseas. Since 1991 NATO has doubled its membership from 16 to 32 countries and in the same time period has attacked three countries.
But recently it has come on hard times. Mordor has insisted that NATO support its hopeless war in Ukraine. Another idiotic order by Trump over Greenland has been unsettling and recently a demand by Mordor to help opening up the Strait of Hormuz has further split Mordor apart from Europe. The author does not mean that NATO will end because the US needs European continental support against Russia. But there are clearly deepening fractures in  NATO.
