This is an interesting discussion about to what extent should the global left identify with BRICS as an alternative. After all, most of the countries in BRICS are not socialist.
One country is run by a Hindu fundamentalist. A friend of BRICS, Saudi Arabia is a theocracy. Even China’s greatest ally, Russia is a capitalist country. Some say all BRICS is doing is pluralizing the wealth so that the capitalists in the semi-periphery and the periphery can have a piece of the action.
