Unfortunately, many socialists think that keeping records of fellow workers sounds like something the FBI or the CIA might do. After all, doesn’t tracking the names, addresses, phone numbers, the department they work in and what their shifts are sound Orwellian?
Not according to this labor organizer, Lisa Xu. She writes that these records are essential for advancing organizing efforts. She goes further and encourages us to include categories like level of support. She also writes the whole thing should be put into a spreadsheet and monitored weekly. The spreadsheet could also be used to track opportunities to improve as an organizer.
