How the CIA Created the New Left

This is a very interesting interview with Ryan Perkins about the CIA’s involvement in shaping the New Left from the end of World War II to 1967.

The Council for Cultural Freedom set out to shape a movement so that it was not only critical of capitalism, but anti-communist, presenting itself as a third alternative. It drew Trotskyists, and anarchists through the hippie movement and supported the development of Western Marxism including the Frankfort School.
