It was their refusal to buy cheap Russian natural gas, then paying 5 times that amount to Mordor for gas that helped to bankrupt them. Another key political move was to blindly give financial support to Ukraine rather than fixing their own domestic economy. Now the government is breaking up. The real question is why it took so long.
