Defying Domestic State Violence, Columbian Workers Continue to Block Roads

The poverty rate in Columbia is over 42%. What has started out as a reaction to a tax increase has gone far beyond that. These workers are now demanding a Universal Basic Income, health care during the pandemic and protection of their home industry. This has been met by state violence as police and snipers shoot openly into the crowd. The heads of unions deserve a badge of courage, given that Columbia is one of the most dangerous places in the world for trade unionists.
