This book by Peter Phillips attempts to do on a global scale what C Wright Mills did in his book “The Power Elite” decades ago. His book not only lists the names of the 389 transnational capitalists, but more importantly it describes the connections and mutually reinforcing organizations they set up. There are a few transnational capitalists who believe that reform is needed to keep the masses down on the farm. However, they are a minority. The most disappointing part of the book is how lacking Phillips is in providing mechanisms of scenarios for a global workers’ movement. His book closes with a letter that appeals to the transnational class of capitalists.
